These instructors are used to training people who are nervous, frightened, etc. just like you could be. Don't worry, motorcycling is fun, and team are committed to getting you on the road quickly

So, what first? Decide what you can and want to ride. As a guideline for you:

21 years old and over are eligible to take direct access (using a bike over 47 BHP ie a 500cc)
YOU MUST HAVE CBT PASS CERTIFICATE AND PASS A THEORY TEST BEFORE THE PRACTICAL TEST

You’ll see CBT mentioned quite a bit. This is the basis of training.

Certificate of Basic Training. Usually done in a day either on your own bike or you can hire one. Prices on application.

In October 2008 Scooter and motorcycle licence legislation will take a new turn. You’ll have to wait longer, pay more and perform more difficult tasks to pass the second part of your test. So if you already have your CBT or ever thought about getting on two wheels, go for your full licence now.

Where do you start? Well if you have never ridden before - the first step is:

CBT - Compulsory Basic Training

Normally a one-day course

Morning: Initially we spend some time in the classroom, where we discuss general clothing requirements and equipment which we feel will be suitable for your needs.

We then move out of the classroom onto our own ‘off road area’, here we take you through the controls of your motorcycle or scooter, practicing putting the machine on it’s stand, showing you what to check on your bike on both a daily and weekly basis. We then commence instruction on how to pull away and stop safely, how to change gear (if applicable), we also put some cones out, for you to ride around, to help you obtain confidence and control when the bike is only moving slowly. Lastly in this session, we practice emergency stops, and show you the correct way to turn left and right.

Break for Lunch

Afternoon: Once again into the classroom, for a short discussion and recap on the mornings events, a quick overview of the highway code, and then a video is played showing you what to be aware of, and how to ride properly on the public road.

Finally onto the road! For this whole period, you are under constant supervision, with our instructors communicating from their own machine, directly with you, via your helmet radio receiver. We ride for approximately 2 hours, practising ‘real time’ what you learnt in the morning session, together with further training on how to approach other road hazards such as traffic lights, round abouts etc.

Lastly, a CBT (DL196) certificate is issued. This will validate your license for 2 years. This certificate will be your part one approval on taking your full test.

Semi Advanced - Further training

Full or half day training can be arranged on either a 125cc or 500cc machine. Supplied by ourselves, or of course, if you already have a bike - that’s fine too!
